Title: Press Shop Operative
Location: Clacton-On-Sea
Salary: £11.85 per hour (first 20 hours on split shift), £15.80 per hour (next 19 hours)
Hours: Split shift on a weekly cycle

  • Mon – Thu: 0530 – 1400 (with ½ hour lunch)
  • Fri: 0530 – 1230
  • Mon – Thu: 1330 – 2200 (with ½ hour dinner)
  • Fri: 1200 – 1900
    Training: Initial day shift for 2-3 months, then transition to split shift.

Purpose:

To set and run department power presses in alignment with supervisor instructions and current work orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety: Ensure full adherence to all business health, safety, and environmental policies and practices.
  • Press Operation: Set and operate power presses effectively and efficiently, using allocated tooling.
  • Quality Assurance: Follow company quality procedures rigorously to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications.
  • Technical Interpretation: Read and understand technical drawings and specifications related to products and gauges.
  • Measurement Skills: Utilize production measuring equipment (e.g., Verniers, Micrometers) to verify product dimensions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with technical and toolroom teams for running trial tools, modifying tools, and executing repairs.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education:

  2. Experience:

    • Previous experience operating and maintaining basic power presses.
    • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and operating basic measuring equipment (Vernier, Micrometer).
    • Understanding of quality control processes.

    • Comprehensive training will be provided.
