Title: Metrology Engineer 
Location: Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, UK 
Reporting to: Quality Systems Engineer

Key responsibilities:

• Measurement, analysis of data, gauging of incoming and manufactured products, and completion of all components measuring reports 
as required by the business and its customers. 
• Produce programs for Hexagon CMM on PC-Dmis, OGP Zone3 & Measure-X and OGP Metrios Systems Programming for the 
measurement components. 
• Prepare customer-required dimensional reports and measurement studies, including PPAP, FAIR and ISIR reports. 
• Support in regular measurement studies as Production Quality requires, using SPC tools to analyse the data to identify trends and 
production stability issues. 
• Responsible for calibrating measuring equipment and ensuring they are compliant. 
• Undertake validation for made-to-drawing components. 
• Working within the Quality team and other departments as required to maintain business objectives and customer expectations. 
• Any other ad hoc duties as required. 
• To ensure there are no delays in reporting live dimensional feedback to production and reporting non-conformances immediately.
• To verify components using the following methods & equipment: Hexagon CMM, CNC vision systems (OGPs) and instant measurement 
machines (Metrios). A competent ability to use all types of manual gauges such as Vernier, micrometre, Depth mic, Height gauge etc. 
• To monitor the SPC System and to highlight problems with: 
(a) Personnel not using information correctly 
(b) Software not working correctly
• To ensure that any infringements from drawings /specifications or procedures are brought to the attention of the appropriate 
Manager/Supervisor.
• To sign the appropriate material release Certificates on behalf of the Company
• To set up all necessary component and product characteristics on the SPC System
• To load & close orders on the SPC System
• To provide extra detailed drawings of components for the following conditions: 
(a) Convert imperial to metric 
(b) Split/ballooned drawings for different operations
• To ensure that all customer complaints are dealt with in the appropriate manner 

Required Skills:

• Experience as a Metrology Technician/Inspector, CMM Programmer or Quality Inspector with a strong background in dimensional 
control and measurement gained in automotive, medical, semiconductor or similar world-class manufacturing environments with 
excellent knowledge on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge.
• Programming and operating Hexagon CMM on PC-Dmis, OGP Zone3 & Measure-X and OGP Metrios Systems Programming and other 
measurement methods
• Understanding of measurement methods/methodology – MSA, Gauge R&R studies
• PPAP, FAIR and ISIR report completion
• Ability to read, understand, interpret, and query technical drawings.
• IT literacy, including a working knowledge of reporting software, e.g., Minitab, Excel, QI Macros.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
