Graduate Fire Engineer

Location: Hybrid ( Head Office is Colchester) 
Reporting to: Head of Operations
Industry: Fire Engineering & Building Safety
Our client, a well-established fire safety consultancy, is looking for a Graduate Fire Engineer to join their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain hands-on experience in fire engineering, working on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you will work closely with experienced Fire Engineers and Fire Safety Consultants, providing technical fire engineering advice and supporting various teams, including the Building Safety Team and Fire Risk Assessment team. Your work will involve developing fire safety strategies, conducting compliance reviews, and designing fire safety solutions to ensure buildings meet regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing fire safety strategies, reports, technical notes, and design sketches
  • Support the review of building designs to assess compliance with fire regulations
  • Work alongside clients, architects, and regulatory authorities to design effective fire safety solutions
  • Conduct fire engineering analyses, including smoke and evacuation modelling, fire dynamics, and structural assessments
  • Use computer modelling software to carry out calculations for smoke spread, temperature control, and fire scenarios
  • Participate in client meetings, liaising with stakeholders to ensure fire safety objectives are met
  • Prepare detailed fire strategies in coordination with engineering and design teams
  • Carry out fire safety inspections of existing buildings and facilities to assess compliance and recommend improvements
  • Manage and contribute to fire engineering projects, tracking progress and ensuring deliverables are met
  • Produce detailed reports and technical documentation to support project outcomes

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and fire safety standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with fire engineering modelling software (desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in a client-facing role
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to learning and professional development
