Top Job Recruitment are looking for a Bookkeeper for a company based in Kelevdon Essex. This is an office based role and due to location of the office, a full driving licence and your own transport is preferred.

The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial transactions of the company, including recording income and expenses, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports. The ideal candidate is highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of ensuring accuracy in financial records. This role is critical for maintaining the financial health of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Recording: Accurately record financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, using the company's accounting software.
  • Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure that all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are resolved.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage both the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring invoices are raised and paid in a timely manner.
  • VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations (or local tax authority requirements).
  • Payroll: Assist with or manage payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculation and timely payment of wages, benefits, and deductions.
  • Month-End & Year-End Closures: Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end accounts, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Reporting: Generate financial reports, such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports, as required by management.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, forecast future financial trends, and ensure the business has sufficient funds for operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, financial regulations, and internal controls.
  • Support to Accountants: Assist external accountants with the preparation of annual accounts, audits, and tax filings.
  • Maintain Records: Organize and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring documentation is properly archived and easily accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Sage and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills to work with both internal teams and external clients/suppliers.
  • Knowledge of VAT regulations and payroll processes is desirable.

Additional Information:

  • Excellent working environment with newly refurbished offices
  • Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm
  • £25,000 - £28,000pm DOE
  • Free on-site parking (own transport is preferred due to the location of the role)
